Watercolor Techniques

A watercolor technique I use is to simply start with three colors of paint. I'll have no idea where this will lead. First I pour water and paint on paper and move it around to mix until something abstract begins to form. At this point, I’ll set it down to dry a little. At this stage, I will begin to add a few other colors as well and actually start further defining the subject matter with more color. A good example of this technique is my painting of Exotic Orchids.

Here is my newest art technique discovered by experimenting and having fun this year. First I took a sheet of watercolor paper and covered it with acrylic paint. Let it dry. Use watercolor paint and ink to paint and draw an abstract work of art. Horse painting, Red Beauty, was a result of this technique.
